Neighborhood Councils are citizen groups based in each of eight neighborhoods which actively participate in shaping the future of Tacoma. The City Council created the councils to broaden citizen input and to give greater representation in city government. The Community Council is composed of the chairs of each Neighborhood Councils.
The NE Tacoma Neighborhood Council is composed of 8 neighborhoods that fall completely within the incorporated city limits of Tacoma. (See "About Us" for a detailed description.) Each neighborhood is represented by two board members. There are also three "At Large" representatives who represent all eight neighborhoods. Overseeing the Council is an Exective Board consisting of five positions: Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary, Correspondence and Treasurer. Members of the Exective Board are selected from Neighborhood and At Large representatives. Three members also represent the NE Tacoma Neighborhood Council on The Community Council.
